A LAY APOSTOLATE
IN THE HUDSON RIVER VALLEY
“The weak things of the world hath God chosen, that he may confound the strong… and things that are not, that he might bring to nought things that are.”

Who we are
One Christ, Two Titles
Lion & Lamb International Inc is a nonprofit run by Catholic laity that puts people to work, makes sacred art, and forms souls.
Our name is two titles of one Christ. He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah who has conquered—and when John turns to see the conqueror, he sees a Lamb standing as though slain. The victory is real, and it is won by self-offering.
That is the shape of everything we do. We start in the Hudson Valley because that is where we are. We are called Lion & Lamb International because that is not where it stops.
Four Works, One Mission
-

DIGNIFIED WORK
Real work and real wages—not a training program, not a stipend, and paid at the going rate for the job.
Our positions are open to people for whom ordinary employment has been hard to hold: disability, neurodivergence, or circumstances that interrupted a working life. We accommodate the person rather than asking the person to disappear into the job.
-

SACRED ART & CULTURE
Music, digital storyboards, and educational and formational materials, published freely on our channel. Support puts more of it into the world.
-

ECUMENICAL GOODWILL
Friendship with Protestant Christians built through shared acts of service, and, where it is welcome, reading the Fathers and the older Western writers together: an inheritance that was common long before it was contested.
-

THE INTERIOR LIFE
We form youth, adults, and everyone between in the Christian interior life and the spirit of prayer.
Our Head Facilitator has spent over a decade in the formation of souls, and helps run young adult groups across the valley — none of them ours, each by the permission and oversight of the parish or community that hosts it.

WHO STANDS BEHIND IT
Lion & Lamb International Inc is governed by a Council of Stewards, with an independent CPA advising on the books.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
A young apostolate runs on four things and only one of them is money.
-

Pray
Ask the Lion of Judah to prosper this work and the Lamb once slain to keep it humble.
Send us your intentions; we carry them.
-

Give Monthly
A recurring gift of $25, $50, or $100 is what actually sustains this. One-time gifts start us; monthly partners keep us going.
-

Serve
Lend a trade, an afternoon, a classroom, or a parish hall. Much of what we do is done shoulder to shoulder.
-

Introduce us
A word to your pastor, to an employer who hires, or to a friend who gives. Doors open faster when someone we have never met vouches for us.
“Give, and it shall be given to you: good measure and pressed down and shaken together and running over.”
Luke 6:38

EVERY GIFT IS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE
Lion & Lamb International Inc is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
What Your Gift Funds
-
$22,500
One part-time position—real wages, fully funded with payroll taxes and workers’ compensation.
-
$7,000
Media production—recording and publishing our first songs, and keeping the visual and formational work going.
-
$6,500
Accounting and administration bookkeeping, filings, and the unglamorous infrastructure that keeps a nonprofit honest.
-
$4,000
Formation materials and safe environment training—background checks and training for everyone who works with young people.
Our seed goal is $45,000
This allows one full year of this apostolate standing on its own feet
EVERY $25,000 AFTER THAT
Past $45,000, the math is simple: each additional $25,000 puts another person to work—$70,000 a second position, $95,000 a third. The insurance, the books, and the filings cost the same whether we employ one person or three, so the first job is the expensive one and nearly every dollar after it goes straight into wages.
FAQs
-
Lion & Lamb International is a nonprofit lay apostolate in the Hudson River Valley, run by Catholic laity. We restore dignity through four works: dignified work for disadvantaged and vulnerable people, sacred art and culture, bridge-building with Protestant Christians, and interior-life formation for youth and adults.
-
The name comes from two titles of the one Christ: the Lion of Judah and the Lamb who was slain.
"And one of the ancients said to me: Weep not; behold the lion of the tribe of Juda, the root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I saw: and behold in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the ancients, a Lamb standing as it were slain, having seven horns and seven eyes: which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth." (Apocalypse 5:5–6, Douay-Rheims) -

Our first goal is $45,000, which covers one full year of the apostolate standing on its own feet. It breaks down as follows:
$22,500 for one part-time position
$7,000 for media production
$6,500 for accounting and administration
$5,000 for insurance
$4,000 for formation materials and safe-environment training
Each additional $25,000 puts another person to work.

We mean real, paid work that fits a person's gifts and abilities, with reasonable accommodation built in from the start. Many disabled and vulnerable people are offered either charity or nothing at all. We want to offer a place to contribute. Our first fundraising goal funds our first position.
-
Whether disabled, neurodivergent, traumatized and cooperating in pursuit of inner healing, or even well and healthy and simply moved by the mission, we are open to consider any and all who are attracted to the movement to provide dignified work to the disenfranchised.
-
Earned income can affect disability benefits, so we take this question seriously. We work with each person to arrange hours and pay that serve them, and we encourage anyone receiving benefits to speak with a Social Security work-incentives counselor before starting.
-
Lion & Lamb is an independent nonprofit run by Catholic laity. We are actively hoping and open to official approbation by the Church proper, and are currently at the service of several diocesan young adult efforts in the Hudson River Valley.
-
No. In Goodwill, our work and our workers are open to all. Our Faith shapes how we work, but it is not a condition of receiving help or working with us. What has been given to us, we give freely.
-
Our ecumenical work is about goodwill, not pressure, in the desire to answer the Call to Unity of Christ, Pope Leo, and the recent martyrs of the Middle East. We serve alongside Protestant Christians, and where it is welcome, we read the Fathers and the older Western writers together: an inheritance that was common long before it was contested.
-
Safe Places Safe People is a free safeguarding video series with separate modules for children, workers, hosts, and leaders. It was made for small churches and martial arts academies that can't access licensed programs. It supplements certified training such as VIRTUS and does not replace it.
-
Everyone who serves with us is bound by our Safeguarding Policy and our Covenant of Conduct and Dignity. The policy includes separate codes of conduct for minors and for vulnerable adults, and it holds a firm respect for adults' own choices and autonomy. We have zero tolerance for abuse and report concerns to the proper New York authorities. Background checks are mandatory.
-
Our music, storyboards, and formation materials will be free on our YouTube channel, which is under construction.
